Brunch forever & always!
I understand that there are places where brunch is not a big deal. Places where they’d rather stick to breakfast then lunch and avoid brunch altogether. These are places that I feel are sorely missing out!
I’m a big proponent of any social event that revolves around good chatter, great outfits, and even better food. Today I’m teaming up with a lovely blogger named Dora from Bangs Bang! She has been a great supporter of Violet Roots and when she reached out on her blog not too long ago for a collaboration we decided to link up and each style a look suitable for brunch. Definitely, stop by and check out her post called, “I Have a Date with VioletRoots.com.”
Where I’m from, brunch is an event that you go to – if you’re lucky, every weekend – and indulge in copious amounts of food as you exchange stories from your weekend escapades, people watch like crazy and enjoy a nice cocktail or two. Bellinis, mimosas, sangria, beer. . .whatever floats your boat!
It’s more about the food for me than it is the buzz, and breakfast food happens to be the star of the brunch show for me anyways. Some people opt for something else but my morning (or early afternoon. . .it is the weekend y’know) isn’t complete unless I’m enjoying avocado toast with eggs or some other breakfast themed delight.
All the people watching that takes place when I go out for brunch today reminds me of the hours I’d spend with my friends in college in the dining halls. A group of us would always meet up during the weekends to eat in the morning/early afternoon and talk about our wild nights over delicious omelettes, bagels, and more.
Our dining facilities had a great variety and the omelette station always had a long line but was more than worth it. Nowadays there can still be a bit of a wait for brunch if you don’t have a reservation and you can still end up spending hours talking about what happened the night before. That part hasn’t changed but a lot has in other areas.
Instead of going out to eat I more often than not end up making brunch at home and enjoying it with A instead of my big group of friends. My college mates and I are still tight knit and see each other as much as our increasingly busy schedules allow.
When I do go out for brunch I choose to wear something with zero fuss to it. I like outfits that are comfortable and that I can relax and feel cozy in as I camp out in deep conversation with whomever I’m with. More importantly, I want to be able to enjoy my weekend day and get out of the house as quickly as possible! The weekends already go by way too fast so picking some of my go-to casual pieces saves me precious time.
You might recognize this vest from Levi’s (similar), these purple pants from Gap (similar) and those H&M (similar) flats I always wear from an earlier post here. I switched it up a bit by adding a tank top, new accessories and styling my hair differently for a more relaxed look.
I know some style bloggers never repeat items of clothing but to me that’s unrealistic. Of course, no one wants to see you post the same look over and over. Still, I think showcasing different variations of a look is truer to what we all do everyday and sharing my daily life is part of what Violet Roots is all about. You can see similar items to what I’m wearing below and by clicking the images too!
