10 Female Artists You Need to Know in 2017
I’m all about representing and supporting female creatives no matter what industry they’re in. When it just so happens to be the music industry I get even more hyped up than before! Today I’ve rounded up a list of 10 badass female artists you need to know in 2017.
There is so much talent that seemingly comes out of the woodwork each and every year and 2017 is no different. In the past, I’ve showcased underrated and emerging talent from several music festivals as well as individual concerts. I gave some love to bands that should be way more famous and brought female and male rising stars to the fore.
I have so much fun putting together these music posts and I’m currently working on a way to make it a bit easier to access my playlists. Spotify is great and I won’t be moving away from that platform but I will be switching things around on Violet Roots so that you don’t have to go poking around in order to get our #VRxMusic fix!
The Future is Female
March is National Women’s History month and in honor of that I thought now would be the perfect time to highlight these musicians. Although there are certainly more than just 10 female artists you need to know this year this is a great place to start! If you want to know what else I’m listening to make sure you head over to Spotify!
In the meantime, I hope you’re able to connect with the different sounds and female perspectives on display (Click to Tweet). Some of these artists are picking up steam fast and others are just beginning to garner buzz.
All of them are worthy of your attention and would make an excellent replacement for those 5 songs the radio insists on repeatedly playing. After all, regardless of how fun and entertaining those songs were when you first heard them, there is such a thing as too much of a good thing.
Almost all of the artists that I’ve included today are a direct result of Spotify. I either stumbled upon an artist in one of their premade playlists or they were suggested to me via my personal daily mix. There are so many features on that platform that truly cater to the listener. It’s a fantastic example of knowing your audience and giving them exactly what they want even before they realize they want it.
I have a lot more to say about Spotify and what it can teach us about cultivating an awesome user experience but I’ll save that for an upcoming feature this Spring!
